Blackshear Bassmasters win Georgia Top 6 Classic
The Blackshear Bassmasters’ (Americus GA) six man team lead by Mark Goodin of Americus made a second day run to take top honors at the Georgia B.A.S.S. Chapter Federation (GBCF) 2001 Top Six Classic (TSC).
The 2001 TSC tournament was held on Lake Walter F. George (Eufaula) April 2 and 3, and conducted from Lake Point Resort State Park, Eufaula Alabama. There were 85 six-man teams competing this year for the title of “State Champions” as well as for individual prizes and especially the top 12 individual places.
After the first day of competiton the Bassmasters were in fourth place, some 8 lbs. behind the leading Marietta Bassmasters. Mark Goodin lead the Blackshear club to a team victory with a second day catch of 12.25 lbs. and a total of 25.10 lbs. The Bassmasters combined winning weight was 93.2 lbs. Second place team with 91.2 lbs. was the Marietta Bassmasters out of Marietta, GA. Third place team with 90.8 lbs. was the Pro Casters Bass Club out of Macon, GA and finishing fourth was the Fort Benning Bass Club from Ft. Benning, GA with 86.45 lbs.
The most sought-after accomplishments individually would be the top 12 spots on the leader board and Mark Goodin finished 8th in individual standings. He will join the other 11 top finishers and comprise the Georgia State Team which shall represent the GBCF in the B.A.S.S. Southern Division Championship to be held in early June this summer on Lake Sante Cooper in South Carolina.
